Soap Making Class Fee $30 plus materials

 We invite you to learn the basics of making natural soap from fresh milk.  Instruction will include how to blend the lye and the milk to achieve the perfect consistency of soap.  Learn how to pour into molds ;and customize the soap with color, texture and your personal essential oil scent.  You will take home two pounds of raw soap which is  to 8 full sized bars; to cure at home. You will also have a full size silicone mold in a wood box and recipe ideas for other variations.

DNR staff member Joe Senulis will present a lecture and exhibit on bat ecology, habitats and habitat preservation.  Following the talk participants can make their own bat houses to take home.   Lecture is free; fee for making the bat house.  Co-sponsored with Friends of Stewart Park

Introduction to Rosemaling Class Fee $35

  Learn the basics of the Norwegian art of rosemaling taught by Lois Mueller who has been teaching since 1979 and a Vesterheim Gold Medalist.  She has written nine rosemaling instruction books.  Students may bring their own materials and brushes, however, brushes and wooden items for the class will be available for purchase for a cost of approximately $20.  Acrylics will be used in the class and will be supplied.  Students may bring their own oils if they wish.

With instructor April Prusia you will learn how to make refreshing and healthful drinks.  It's all about the fermentation.  You will take home kits to make some on your own.

Start the holiday season by decorating  a gingerbread house to take home.  The house and decorating materials are supplied; you just use your imagination.  Children under 12 to be accompanied by an adult.
